The conversion is complete. Here is the Extreme Scythean heavy warbeast. Note I am not gluing the arms and limbs back on that broke off because I know the client wants to strip the mini and repaint it all anyway. So right now the pieces are held on with sticky-tack and twist-ties.
And a little additional touch, a custom box to deliver it to the client in.
All in all I am really proud of the work here. The greenstuffing flesh was the biggest challenge. I look forward to see what he thinks of it.

Starting Age of Sigmar - A listbuilder's Guide
I developed a small fun little inspiration guide for those wanting to start Age of Sigmar. One thing I discovered is due to the simplicity of the game, people have been leaning toward more small armies and skirmish battles. This is a trend entirely different from previous editions, which is awesome. What's even better is this new game is so much more friendly to theme lists than ever before. So with the idea of theme lists in mind, and the fact that you can get a 'standard' army going for about $200, I built this little guide:

Warmachine/Hordes - Legion of Everblight Extreme Scythean
This will be something new for me, especially on this blog. An acquaintance locally likes my conversion work I have been doing, and he commissioned me to do some work for him. He plays Warmachine/Hordes and had an idea for something he thought would be cool.
I don't play Warmachine/Hordes, but I know enough about the setting to get around the fluff. I know of the Legion of Everblight. My friend has apparently dreamed of having a model that technically does not exist. The Scytheans have a distinct feature, and that is their large terrifying scythes.
My friend wanted a larger version of one, similar to the Extreme Carnivean.
So we are going to make him an Extreme Scythian. The plan is to take the original Extreme Carnivean model and modify it. My friend provided me with a painted model that he planned on stripping and painting anyway, so I didn't have to worry about preserving the original paintjob.
So I chopped off the big palms at the elbows and, being the 40k fan I am, knew of the perfect bits to put in its place. Large Carnifex talons.
This was just a test gluing to get the idea of the conversion. The next step is to pin the plastic claws onto the metal elbows, and then do the greenstuff. It will take a lot of greenstuff. Tyranid have a boney chitinous look, whereas Everblight warbeasts have more of a muscle appearance. The greenstuff work will change that.
I will post updates.

Forgesworn Eternals - Lord-Relictor
Ok this is the last Forgesworn Eternal model I will be assembling and painting for a bit.
This is Lord-Relictor Volstrad Runeseer. I was going more for a rune-power, than a power over death that is the case with the original Lord-Relictor. This Eternal will be the one given the greatest of Grungni's secrets with rune magic, and that will be represented with glowing magical runes allover his body.
On another note, I came up with a real awesome war cry for my Forgesworn Eternals.

Forgesworn Eternals - Liberators and Retributors (WIP)
I finishes up more of my Forgesworn Eternals stormhost. This time I have the Retributors and the rest of the Liberators built. These are all minis from the box set and not the new kits, but I wanted the options from the new kits, so this is where some creative conversion work went in.
For the Retributors, I bought an extra set of 3 from the box set online so I could come out to 5, this way I could get an awesome Starsoul Mace. But since I didn't have the proper Starsoul Mace bit, I built my own dwarfy version.
I really like the way these guys turned out. While most of my minis I try to fit on smaller bases, these guys are just barely too big for 32mm, so I had to stick with their 40mm. Retributors also have those reliquaries on their backs, so I found I had several of these banner bits available from previous dwarf kits that look fitting enough, even the wings come out and accent the Retributor's heads.
This shot just shows them individually and their posing. I wanted different poses because only 3 minis repeated gets old. The one on the far left is a unique pose, then of course there's my counts-as starsoul mace on the 2nd from the right. What's really cool about these guys is because they are so big, the metal beards on their heads fit inside the armour instead of outside like on my liberators.
I wanted a majority of my liberators to stick with the hammer and shields because I like that build. But again 1 in every 5 can carry a grandhammer. In this case I used parts from the extra retributor I had and extra liberator to help fill this in. So above is a full squad of 10 (including the one I built and painted previously) with 2 grandhammers. Again they are on 32mm bases, and I had to do some cutting and reposing to get some variety with them. The liberator prime in the front I am pretty proud of. I knew I wanted him to hold his hammer high, but what to do with the other arm was a conundrum. There were not any spare hands or hands not holding anything in the box set, so I dug through my bits and found the perfect part. A Grey Knight Paladin left hand holding a severed daemon head. It just fits.
These guys plus my Lord-celestant will be the majority of my Forgesworn Eternals that fight alongside my Duardin, but I may not get around to painting them for a while. In October I have to prepare my Tau for a tournament, and on top of that our family is moving to another city, so that will be cutting into hobby time.

Forgesworn Eternals - Lord-Celestant on Dire Bear (Finished!)
Here is a blurb I wrote about him and his Stormhost:
Hanzbur Anvilhelm leads the first Warrior Chamber of the Forgesworn Eternals, known colloquially as the Anvilhelms.
Grungni was commissioned by Sigmar to reforge the many heroes allover the realms. They were to become the Stormcast Eternals, Sigmar's greatest weapon against Chaos. Grungni asked for one stormhost he could reforge himself for his own. Grungni knew of the plight of the duardin and worked on creating what would become their greatest ally in their battle against Chaos. The heroes of the realms for this project couldn't be just anyone. Outlying some of the duardin holds were human settlements of hardy individuals who shared a close relationship with their duardin neighbors. They were tough and grim folk with the same respect for keeping promises and paying debts. One individual among them was a brave warrior named Hanzbur who fought alongside many duardin defenders against chaos incursions. Grungni took note of this one because he saw the duardin as equals to his own kind, and not inferior.
Hanzbur was taken up into Azyr during a particularly brutal campaign. Grungni saw to his reforging personally. Crafting for him his finest weapons and armour. This new Hanzbur Anvilhelm would need a suitable mount. Since the dracoths were given to Sigmar, Grungni had to find another animal companion for his Lord-celestant. Among the silver mountains on Chamon are a breed of tough ursine creatures, with light grey fur and ferocious demeanor. These creatures were part of legend for the humans and duardin of the area, and known to be untameable. Grungni could think of no better mount, and first cast Hanzbur to a remote secluded area of the mountain range to find and tame one. This was no easy task and took several months. With Hanzbur reforged, the dire bear could sense a commanding respect within him. Hanzbur then forged the bear's harness and armour himself. He called his companion Storbjorn, after the language of his past life.
With this union complete, the rest of the Anvilhelms were cast to Chamon. The Forgesworn Eternals had been brought finally in full. As the liberators, retributors, and the rest of the host looked up from their landing, they beheld the inspiring sight of Hanzbur atop his bellowing Storbjorn. They would soon join with Sigmar's other stormhosts on the realm, and the liberation of Chamon would begin.
